About Us

Based on the Kapiti Coast just outside Wellington, we work with businesses and organisations throughout New Zealand. Symbiont designs effective education and training resources that are easy to use and produce results.

Members of our team have been involved with projects in New Zealand and Australia, to produce education and training resources for corporate organisations, small business, government agencies and universities.

Company History

Symbiont Limited was formed late 2003 by two people with a vision of combining their expertise in adult education with the best in computer technology. Innovative and effective workplace training solutions for small- and medium-sized businesses was their aim. Soon after they started the research and development of their first training product, they were asked to design an interactive CDRom for barista training.

By 2006 the client list was expanding dramatically - but not in the way they thought it would! Word had got out that Symbiont really had a knack of getting to the heart of a training issue and could come up with great (and often innovative) solutions.  A number of large organisations in New Zealand contracted Symbiont to develop new training resources, ranging from face-to-face workshops right through to e-learning and interactive DVD.

Word of mouth recommendations and referrals continued to drive the expansion of the client base, and by mid-2008 Symbiont made the move to larger premises and took on more staff.

Our Name

Tricky to say and not easy to spell, our name has great meaning for all of us at Symbiont.

It is the term used for an organism that lives in a mutually beneficial relationship with another organism. We think this describes, beautifully, the relationship we aim to have with each one of our clients.

We do more than just produce your training resources, fulfill the contract. We always aim to go "the extra mile" for clients. That might be sharing our knowledge to help build your own staff’s expertise, or solving a problem you have.

Each interaction with our clients help us to grow, and learn how we can do things even better.
