Workplace Training
Workplace training is an important way for a business or organisation to improve the quality of services they provide, their efficiency, safety, and to develop and retain good staff.
For New Zealand as a whole, workplace training is critical, as it can address skill shortages over a shorter time-frame than institutional programmes. Training can be customised so that it meets the specific needs of a particular business.
What do I need to do?
How you assemble your workplace training programme depends on what area you’re training, the needs of your employees, and your organisation.
How can we make our training programme more effective?
Start by being clear about what you want to achieve from the training, then look at how training currently happens in your workplace. Once you have this base information, you will be able to identify any problem areas and gaps.
Then you need a plan of what needs to be done to solve the problem! This may be as simple as changing the way you deliver training. For example, instead of requiring people to attend a one day workshop, the training might be able to be offered as e-learning. Employees can then arrange to train when it suits them and you!
