Educational Design

Educational design (also known as instructional design) is best described as the art and science of creating an effective learning environment. It aims to create a learning context that is realistic and encourages the learner to interact with the subject matter, no matter what that is. The goal is to design the education or training resources so they engage the learner - both intellectually and emotionally - and get the best results possible.

An important guide for the Education Designer is the learning outcomes. Knowing these and fully understanding the intention and purpose of a project means that they can properly design for that outcome.

The Education Designer also works closely with Subject Matter Experts (also known as SMEs). These people are experts in their subject area and they ensure the content of the learning resource is technically accurate.

Need different delivery options?

Sometimes your learning materials have all the right content, but need to be delivered differently. For example, a change to e-learning may be more cost-effective! An Education Designer can translate your content so the best delivery mode that meets your changing training needs, and the needs of your learners, is used.
